The National Library of Public Information (NLPI) has launched a special exhibition titled "Decoding the Orchid Catalog: The Botanical Paintings of Kawasumi Risaburo in the Kebun Raya Bogor" starting from the beginning of 2024.
The exhibition will be held at the periodicals area on the 3rd floor of the NLPI main library until May 5th, along with a delicate book marks as limited edition gifts. Through decoding the NLPI's treasured "The Orchid Catalog," the exhibition showcases exquisite hand-drawn botanical paintings, explores popular science about orchids, and introduces the development of the orchid industry in Taiwan. In addition to its artistic and academic value, the exhibition symbolizes the spirit of knowledge inheritance in the NLPI's century-long history. The exhibition also features a special collaboration with the Bibliothéque nationale de France (BnF), presenting a selected contemporaneous orchid image from its collection that complements "The Orchid Catalog."
