Divine Power, Female Power, Social Power: Gender Division of Labor and Rethinking in Taiwanese Folkl
《brief introduction》In Taiwanese folk beliefs, the division of labor between men and women has always been obvious. However, as time goes by, these boundaries may gradually dissolve in the contemporary era, or they may remain as clear as before. What is the reason for this? The root cause has to be returned to the essence of folk beliefs and practices - meaning "changeable" and "immutable". Only by placing such relatively microscopic insights into macroscopic time can we explore the context. This lecture invites scholars who have long been concerned about folklore and gender issues to discuss the gender division of labor in Taiwan's folklore field based on their own research and field work. Folklore observers and music scholars serve as introductors and interlocutors, and together they rethink the current status and future possibilities of the gender division of labor in folklore.
