Imagine a fish enlightened—how would it appear?
In the lower right corner of "The Three Taoist Officials Making an Inspection Tour" painting collected by the National Palace Museum is a group of fish and shrimp spirits holding treasures, each with a distinct appearance. In the painting, the fish spirits have transformed their fins into hands, allowing them to not only hold trays but also carry coral. The painter, combining religious rituals with imagination, has visualized the images of gods, ghosts, and spirits that many have heard of but never seen. Using a rich and vivid imagination, the artist creates a world for viewers to explore.
This exhibition takes "The Three Taoist Officials Making an Inspection Tour"
as the starting point and combines new media art, inviting the audience to observe the plots, scenes, and details in the painting, and extend to the meanings behind it. Through the display of scriptures, festivals, and rituals, the exhibition leads the audience to discover which parts of daily life are known realities and which belong to the realm of unknown imagination.
At the same time, it hopes that the audience will further understand people's expectations and anxieties hidden beneath their imagination. At the end of the exhibition, visitors are invited to use modern imaginative tools, such as AI, to express their hopes for a better life.
"Divine Vision Ghostly Reflection─New Media Art Exhibition invites the audience to unleash their imagination, creating colorful and diverse possibilities for both the unknown and daily life."
