“Reading Miraculous Temples”— When Libraries Meet Temples: Bringing Knowledge to Where Blessings Flow
Temple Talks × Reading Parade × Knowledge Amulet Cards — Everyone’s Invited to the Reading Pilgrimage!
The National Library of Public Information (NLPI) presents Taiwan’s most down-to-earth reading celebration — the2025 Taiwan Reading Festival, themed“Reading Miraculous Temples.”
This year’s event transforms the library experience into a vibrant temple fair where“those who pray find peace, and those who read find power.” By bringing reading activities to temple courtyards and blending them with Taiwan’s folk temple culture, NLPI invites everyone to discover the “magical protection” that knowledge can bring.
The festival will take place at Lecheng Temple (Oct. 19), Yuanbao Temple (Nov. 16), and Jenn Lann Temple (Nov. 23).
Each event features engaging Temple Talks, including storytelling, glove puppetry, and kamishibai performances — allowing the public to enjoy tales and reading experiences amid the rich atmosphere of incense and faith.

Temple Talks × Reading Experience Zone
For the first time, NLPI will bring its digital library services andeBook platforms to temple grounds, offering a new experience of “reading anytime, anywhere.”
Visitors can apply for library cards on-site, borrow eBooks instantly, and try out innovative services such asAI reading recommendations andinteractive book searches, blending knowledge with technology to “bless your inspiration.”
The three Temple Talks will feature renowned storytellers and experts:

Here, faith and reading come together — turning the temple courtyard into a place where the spirit and the mind are both renewed.

Temple Talks Turn into “Miraculous Reading Temples”
Faith and knowledge both empower the heart and strengthen the spirit.
According to NLPI, since its inception, the Taiwan Reading Festival has been the nation’s most representative reading brand and a cornerstone of the nationwide reading movement.
“Some go to temples seeking peace; others visit libraries seeking answers.” This year, NLPI bridges the two forces — bringing the library into temple spaces, spreading the warmth of faith through reading, and invoking the spiritual power of books.
“Reading Miraculous Temples” is not just a reading promotion event but also across-cultural dialogue that invites everyone to embrace reading in a familiar yet sacred setting — lively, meaningful, and full of ritual — creating a truly unique reading miracle in Taiwan.
