《Introduction》The United Nations Biodiversity Conference has identified urban ecological conservation as one of its global action goals, particularly emphasizing the expansion of urban green spaces to provide habitats and ecological corridors for wildlife. Among these spaces, school campuses are some of the most important green belts within cities.
Taiwan is home to some of the world’s richest and most diverse campus ecosystems. From northern to southern Taiwan, wildlife can be found on campuses ranging from elementary schools to universities, including endangered and protected species. Combining documentary footage with ecological observation, this lecture will guide audiences in rediscovering the animal neighbors living within school environments, while exploring how digital imagery can serve as a powerful tool for environmental education and wildlife conservation.
More than just a documentary, this project is a call to action. It aims to inspire more schools and students to participate in conservation efforts, encouraging younger generations to develop a passion for protecting biodiversity. By transforming campuses into safe habitats for wildlife and reservoirs of biodiversity, schools across Taiwan can together form an interconnected ecological network.
