Where Poetry Meets Painting: Reading Taiwan Leaves and Poetry and Torn Paintings by Huang Chun-ming
Hits:189
《Introduction
In his recent work Taiwan Leaves: Walking with Huang Chun-ming Among the Wildflowers and Weeds Around Us, renowned novelist Huang Chun-ming turns his attention to the wild plants that grow quietly in everyday surroundings. Through his distinctive storytelling approach, he documents these plants through observation, sketches, interviews with local elders, and field notes. Particularly remarkable are his vivid botanical sketches and detailed records from the field.
Another recent publication, Miscanthus Lighting the Night Sky: Huang Chun-ming’s Poetry and Torn-Painting Collection, brings together his poems and artworks, reflecting his childlike curiosity and deep affection for the land.
Although widely known as a novelist and master storyteller, Huang Chun-ming is also a poet and a painter. Through these two works, the speaker will guide readers in exploring the texts more closely, examining how Huang integrates the sensibility of a poet, the perspective of a painter, and the narrative skill of a novelist to portray the intimate connections between people and the land, people and nature, and people and everyday life.
