The National Library of Public Information handles the applications for library cards, and thus established the "Key Points of Library Card Application Regulations of The National Library of Public Information". Out of which, in applying for a library card, foreigners, and overseas Chinese must present their original passport or resident certificate. Citizens of Hong Kong, Macau, and China must present their original entry/exit permit. The period of use should correspond to the duration of stay on principle, with a maximum length of 1 year. If expired, a renewal can be applied for at the library supported by the original library card and identification documents for inspection.
