低碳圖書館進駐板橋車站

A low-emission public library that enable passengers to check out books before getting on the train was launched on Earth Day 2010, the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) said.

台灣鐵路管理局表示，一座讓乘客上火車前可借閱書籍的低碳公共圖書館，於2010年世界地球日正式啟用。

in the lobby of Banciao Railway Station, will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. year round to all members of the public, the TRA said. A Taipei MRT EasyCard will be needed for admission.

台鐵說，這座環保圖書館位於板橋火車站大廳，全年自07:00至22:00對所有民眾開放。進入圖書館須持台北捷運悠遊卡。

Established and run jointly by the Taipei County government and Taipei County Public Library, the library was the first in Taiwan to be located in a transportation hub that serves the traditional railway, an MRT system and Taiwan's high-speed railway, the TRA said.

這座圖書館由台北縣政府及台北縣立圖書館共同規劃成立與營運，為台灣首座設在台鐵、捷運、高鐵三鐵共構的交通樞紐的圖書館。

The facility itself is also a low-carbon environment, with its lighting and air conditioning systems designed to limit carbon emissions and optimize efficiency, according to the TRA.

圖書館本身也是一個低碳環境，具有低碳排放和優化效能設計的照明與空調系統。

The railway administration suggested that passengers can borrow books before boarding trains and return the books when they arrive back at the station later in the day after school or work.

台鐵建議，旅客可在上火車前借書，當天放學或下班後，回到車站時就可歸還。

The campaign, aimed at driving up Taiwan's low reading rate, was also launched to coincide with World Book and Copyright Day on April 23.

此舉旨在推動國內的低閱讀率，同時也呼應4月23日世界圖書與版權日的到來。
