If the books’ status are “Available”, the book is on shelf and available for Retrieval Request. Each reader can reserve as many as six materials (including books, video-audio materials and retrieval requests). Retrieval Request is only available for the main library and its branch libraries, which is not available for alliance libraries.

Closed Stacks Area

  • The Closed Stacks Area is located in B1 of the Main Library and readers are not allowed to enter. If you wish to borrow books at the Closed Stock Area, please make a retrieval request via your account.
  • Materials at the Closed Stacks Area are divided into rentals and non-rentals. The rental material can be borrowed for up to 30 days, and non-rental material is for library use only. It cannot be checked out.
  • Retrieval service is not on-demand, the librarians will only retrieve materials four times per day, at 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM, 5:00 PM. When your requested material is ready, a pick-up notification will be sent via email or SMS by the system automatically.

Cross-Library Retrieval Request

  • If the material’s status is “Available”, the material is available for Cross-Library Retrieval Request.
  • The service is provided between branch libraries (Main library, Liming branch, or Zhongxing branch)only. The pickup location cannot be where the request material been kept.
  • After you submitted the Retrieval request, the book status will turn into “On Application”. However, on-site readers can still check out the book you requested if they obtained the book from shelf before the library staff does. Once the book is checked out by others, the request applicant would be the first in the waiting list.
